Marriya Schwarz

Marriya Schwarz has always been drawn to quirky stories that add humor to everyday life. She's a writer, comedian, and nationally ranked graphic designer (NSPA). Her array of interests has led her through a series of odd jobs, including working as a camp counselor to famous children and providing historic tours to members of the British royal family. She recently graduated with a Creative Writing MFA at American University. Marriya is also a recent graduate of William & Mary where she got her Bachelor’s degree in American Studies and Creative Writing, and she’s a member of Phi Beta Kappa honor society. She has words in Slate Magazine, Buzzfeed, Women's eNews, and Slackjaw Humor. Marriya has previously worked for showrunner Chitra Sampath and comedian Sammy Obeid, and helped sell television shows to Amazon, FX, and Netflix. She previously worked as a writer and youth expert on all things trending on TikTok at Zimbio. And she also runs her own late-night show THE CATCH-UP, hosts the Zillennial Support Group podcast, the Remake Hot Take podcast, and works as the Editor-in-Chief and designer of Everything But… magazine. She currently teaches at American University, George Mason University, and NOVA Community College in academic writing and creative writing. She also is an expert social media manager. In her free time, Marriya balances teaching, tap dancing, and transcribing 18th century almanacs.
