Over the course of Supernatural's 15 season run, the show could only get by with the generic vampire and ghost storylines for so long. Therefore, writers had to dig into some deep lore to give Sam and Dean Winchester new creatures to discover and learn to kill. Along with pulling out some obscure monsters, they also diversified their pool of villains, pulling from international tales.
